ELF Manicures - Abstract

I sponged on ELF - Passion Pink to two thirds of my nail
making it fade. Then I used a Nail Art Brush and a Dotting
Tool for the stripes and dotts with ELF - White and Black.

ELF - Passion Pink, White and Black.

The inspiration to this last ELF Manicure I got from Katie.
I had no idea what to do. Last polish, last manicure. And
Katie posted a link on Facebook to a YouTube Video. She
has a Color Theme going on. And in this one video she was
doing stripes and dotts. So I did stripes and dotts. Not that
mine looks like hers but the idea what to do I got from her.

This is the last of my ELF Manicures as I have used
all of my ELF Nail Polishes. Have you found a favorite?

ELF Manicures - Striping Tape

I used ELF - Fluorescent Pink as the base color and applied
ELF - Mint Cream as color blocks here and there. Over that I
applied a layer of Spectraflair Top CoatAnd I taped it all off with
Striping Tape in Silver. Top Coat to get the tape to stay in place.

ELF Manicures - Watercolor

I started with ELF - White as the base color. Then I used
ELF - Punk Purple, Fire Coral and Teal for the shapes,
I did them using a technique called watercolor manicure.
I'm not going to do a tutorial on that, because it has been
done already. So I'll just link the one I looked at - HERE!
There is also a YouTube Video Tutorial on there to look at.

ELF - White, Punk Purple, Fire Coral and Teal

This is my 3rd atempt. My first misstake was to do too small
shapes. My second misstake was to use too much nail polish.
And the brush I was using might not have been the best brush
for the job, but it was all I had - a brush for actual watercolors.

ELF Manicures - Freehand

ELF - Blush, Champagne, Mod Mauve, Medium Red, Glitter Glam & Black

I used ELF - Blush as the base color. Sponged on
ELF - Medium Red, Mod Mauve, Champagne and Blush
and touched up with ELF - Mod Mauve and Medium Red on the
tip again. I applied ELF - Glitter Glam mostly to the tip of the nail.
After that I applied Top Coat so that the nail would be smooth.
And then with a thin nail art brush I applied the branches with
ELF - Black. I did the dotts with ELF - Medium Red using
a dotting tool. Topped it with a layer of Top Coat.

ELF Manicures - Waterdecal

I used ELF - Innocent as the base color and then applied
ELF - Smoky Brown with a thin nail art brush. I did a coat
of clear polish before I started applying  the Waterdecals from
Viva La Nails. And lastly Top Coat to seal in the manicure.

ELF Manicures - Gradient

ELF - Pearl Pink, Berry Pink, Sunset, Rosy Raisin, Party Purple & Matte Finisher

ELF - Pearl Pink, Berry Pink, Sunset, Rosy Raisin & Party Purple.

For this manicure I started out with ELF - Pearl Pink as the base color.
Then from the darkest color I started sponging with ELF - Party Purple
and continued with ELF - Rosy Raisin, Sunset, Berry Pink and I also
sponged with ELF - Pearl Pink. Then I went back on with ELF - Rosy
Raisin and to get the tips really dark I went over them with ELF - Party
Purple using the polish brush. Topped it all of with ELF - Matte Finisher.
For a smoother result you can apply Seche Vite before the Matte Top Coat.

I applied Seche Vite on ring finger and thumb so
you can see how it looks glossy. I prefer it matte.

Spectraflair & Silver Holographic Flake

Spectraflair Top Coat

Swatches are 3 coats over black. How opaque it is rather depends
on how much Spectraflair you put in your clear polish. I think it is better
to have a it thin so that you do not mute out the color you apply it over.

Silver Holographic Flake Top Coat & Spectraflair Top Coat

The other swatch is Silver Holographic Flake. I bought
25 grams of Painting Pearls from Custom Painting Pearls,
on ebayNow this is something you use for painting cars.
But they also sell it as Cosmetic Nail Polish Powder.
Silver Holographic Flake & Spectraflair

I would say this is a holographic glitter. I'm thinking it is similar
to: Out the Door Northers Lights - Silver Hologram Top Coat,
China Glaze - Fairy Dust and Cover Girl - City Lights 430 (or the
discontinued Cover Girl - Quicksilver 130). But I can't be sure
as I don't own any of them so I can't make a comparison.
3 coats over black.

Silver Holographic Flake

UPDATE:
I was asked a good question so I thought I would post
it here if anyone else was wondering the same thing.

I want to ask if the Silver Holographic Flake dries to a smooth or gritty finish when you mix it with a clear polish??

  1. The Spectraflair is so fine so that one dries completletely smooth. But the Silver Holographic Flake is a bit gritty. Not like most glitters but a little bit. But I would apply a top coat on it.
