Damask stamping with Matte Top Coat

A Manicure from February 2018

Products used:
Base Coat From Yves Rocher
Konad Special Polish - Black
XL Image Plate Drikk from Brazil - DRK-A
Wet n Wild - Ebony hates Chris
Savina Matte Top Coat
Konad Top Coat
Seche Vite Top Coat
Silver Color Rhinestone

I started out with a Pinkish Base Coat. Over that I stamped with Konad Black. Then I added the tips with Wet n Wild. I used a nail art brush for the pointer. Plus I added the rhinestone.
On the accent nail i stamped with a Matte Top Coat on shiny black Nail Polish.

From Born Pretty Store:
Silicone Stamping Mat. Product ID: #4555
Nail Art Brush. Product ID 465

Testing stamping with Matte Top Coat on the Silicone Stamping Mat from Born Pretty Store.
I did not stamp quick enough on the nails, so the polish dried a bit and did not leave as crisp of a stamp on the nails as on the Stamping mat. I had to lign up the stamper with the nail to get it straigt and it was a bit hard when you don't see the polish on the stamper very well, as the Matte Top Coat is see through. On the Mat I just winged it as I was only testing.

Tips and Tools for a Clean, Fresh and Beautiful Manicure!

Here's a few tips that has helped me get picture ready Nails and a Manicure that lasts for days.

※ A Cuticle pusher to gently push back your cuticles with. Best done after shower/bath/hand soak so that the skin is soft. (Have you tried rubbing them with sugar or a clean tootbrush?)
I like the stainless steel one. Easy to clean and keep clean!

※ Cotton pads to wipe your nails with acetone, nail polish remover or spirit prior to painting them. Makes your Manicure last longer. An other tip is to add Top Coat at least every other day.

※ An Orangewood stick can be used to wipe away polish from the cuticles and the sides of your nails and fingers. (To remove nail polish from the Orangewood stick I use a nail file and sand it down).
A cotton bud/cotton swab can also be used for clean up.

※ A small flat Brush dipped in Acetone/Nail Polish Remover is really helpfull to clean any polish residue you still have around your nails, that you did not get with the orangewood stick or cotton bud, to really get that crisp and clean finish.
(I started out with an artist brush for painting. Still use it for glitters and holographic polishes).

※ Use Cuticle cream or oil to nourish and moisturize your cuticles with. One of the reasons I like Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream is because it smells Lemony Fresh. Don't forget hand cream!

That's a few steps to get you started!

"Winterize” your nails!

Trending nail polish colors for this winter.

Check out more Nailpolish colors on Julep

I like to keep it simple when I "winterize" my nails.

First off I always start with clean nails and hands. Doing this after a shower or
a bath is ideal. But it works fine with a long handwash with warm water and soap.

A nailbrush works for some, but I like to soak my nails in a bowl with warm water
(just enough to cover the nails) and anywhere from 1 TSP to 1 TBSP of lemon added
to it (Find out what works for you). The acidity of the lemon makes the nails whiter.
And it also loosens any muck you might have going on under the nail.

An orange wood stick (or cuticle pusher) is great to scrape off any of the much
that is stuck under your nails and of course to gently push back your cuticlesMake
sure your orange wood stick is clean when you go about doing your cuticles though.

If my cuticles are dry I like to use a Cuticle stone to remove any dry cuticles.
It also removes build-up from the nails.

Rinse your hands.

If my nails need shaping or shortening this is the time
to take out the file and buffer and get going. Don't over-do it
with the buffer or your nails could get really thin.

Applying nail polish is optional, and you can use any color you like. For best
result use a base coat. Apply 2 coats of your favorite nail polish and seal it all
with top coat. Put your nails in Ice water to dry the polish faster.

Apply a moisturizer. To get the blood going and flowing to your nails,
(after the "ice bath") rub and massage the nails, cuticles and fingers. It's good
for the nails and you get warmer hands - a Bonus in cold winter times.

My hands get really dry when it is cold outside so I really like to apply
generously of a really creamy moisturizing hand cream before I go to sleep
so that my hands are really soft and hydrated when I wake up.

How do you go about "Winterizing" your nails and hands?

Born Pretty Store Brush Review + NOTD

A snowy winter manicure and detailing Nail Art Brushes from Born Pretty Store.
I did a Snowflake manicure to test out the brushes. I'm not the best at free hand
nail art. So I just did this simple snowflake with blue rhinestones on each nail.

The brushes comes in 4 small sizes and they are great for small detailing
work on your nails. I used the largest of them to create my simple snowflake.
With small pointed tips these brushes work great for fine detailed nail art.

The link and full name as it appears on the Born Pretty Sore website:

As the base color I used China Glaze - Little Drummer Boy and
layered A England - Morgan Le Fay over it. With white acrylic paint
I did the snowflakes and some dotts using the number 0000 brush. I placed
a small drop of top coat where I wanted the rhinestones to be. Then I
applied top coat to all the nails to keep everything in place.
