ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder - Fiji Matte - Swatches

In my previous post I showed swatches of ELF Blush Palette in Fair - That I got in my latest ELF Haul - together with Contouring Blush And Bronzing Powder that I will be showing swatches of in this post. And I will also compare the two.

The Contouring Blush And Bronzing Powder in Fiji (Matte) I have been wanting for for a long time. When Distribeauty UK Ltd still shipped ELF it was always out of stock when I placed my orders. And then the company went on stocking other brands. So I wasn't able to get my hands on it until now. So how do I like it? Would I contour with this?

Contouring Blush And Bronzing Powder in Fiji (Matte) palette has better pigmentation than the Blush Palette in Fair and color pay-off is a little better. But it is still powdery. Again finger swatches are ok. Finger swipes on hand are ok. You can see that it is a little crumbly. But that is because I swirled my fingers a few times to really pick up a lot of product. In the comparison photos I swirled on the swatches and I really worked that powder on to my hand - so the result is much smoother. However when working with a brush the results are different. It is not as vibrant, nor do you want it to be on your cheeks.

The neutral shade in the Blush Palette has more of a red tone compared to the more grey taupe tone shade in the Fiji Palette. I don't think I will use the orange shade in the Fair Blush Palette at all. In the Blush Palette the coraly toned blush is more vibrant (and it has glitter - but not much of that shows. And doesn't really transfer to your cheeks.) compared to the more muted coral tone in the Fiji Palette. But very similar.

How do I like it?
I prefer the Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder Fiji Palette. I would not contour with it. Rather use as a Blush and Bronzer. Love matte products.

Up next is going to be a comparison of the Blush Palette in Fair and a Blush Palette from an other affordable makeup brand. Hopefully that will be up on Sunday.

What "other affordable makeup brand" do you think it is?

JORDWATCH Review

I was contacted by JORD a while ago, I got an email asking me to do a review of Jord Watches. I wasn't sure if I would have the time or even if I wanted to do it. I haven't posted regularly on my blog for some time. An other thing was that I have not worn a watch for years. I didn't reply. However an idea was forming in my head and I could not stop thinking about the Jord Watches. To my surprise I recieved an other email from Jord. By now the idea that was forming in my head had set root. I could not refuse.

My Fieldcrest Zebrawood and Maple #JordWatch is sturdy, eventhoug it feels light to the touch. I would not submerge it into water though. I'm thinking water would dry out the wood and make it brittle.  The timepiece is smooth to the touch and feels warm when you hold or wear it - unlike a metal watch.

This Wood Watch does draw attention to it. Never has any piece of clothing or accessories that I've worn gotten more attention than this wood watch. People want to touch it and hold it and even try it on. And the reactions are much like my own described in this post. "Wow how light it is. If feels really smooth. Good looking timepiece." And I usually get the question: "Where did you get it? Where can I buy one?"

Get yours at woodwatches.com

When I was unboxing the timepiece I noticed a few nice details. First off it came packaged in a beautiful wood box (sucker for boxes). Great for storing your wood watch when not wearing it. There was a cleaning cloth included. Great when you are taking photos of the watch and don't want fingerprints showing on the glass. The back of the watch is not metal but in fact is covered with wood. That was a nice surprice. The back is ingraved with the Jord Logo, where the timepiece is born and manufactured and what it is made of. The backpiece is attached with 4 screwes. On the wristband next to the clasp the word JORD is ingraved. The clasp opens up really wide so it's really easy to put on the watch. The Crown is also ingraved with the Jord Logo.

An unboxing picture collage was posted on Instagram.

Unfortunately I had a problem with the clasp of the watch. It came undone by the slightest touch. I took a closer look at the clasp and realised that I did not even have to push the clasp to open it. I could just pull the wristband. Clearly a faulty clasp. Woodwatches said that they will replace the watch.

Having a wood watch brings up a few questions.

What kind of wood is used? Is it from sustainable sources?
Can I be/become allergic to my wood watch?
How do I clean and keep my wood watch clean?
Are JORD watches water resistant?

Sigma Beauty Product Review

I have a quick review for you. I got 3 Eyeshadows and
4 brushes from the Performance Eyes Kit from Sigma Beauty.

I should have done this review like two summers ago. But I have been
putting it off as I don't really have much nice things to say about the products
I got. But then I thought that that is no reason not to do a review, but a great
reason to actually let you guys know what I think about these products.

Individual Eyeshadow $11

Escape
Act
Resist (Now on sale for $7.70)

First off the Eyeshadows feels really silky and smooth. Seems to be pigmented
and rich in color. They look good in the swatches on my hand. However the more
I used them the less I was impressed by them. They are a bit powdery and when
applying there is "fly away" and fall out. The colors are not that unique, I found a few
"dupes" or at least very similar colors in my stash that I like better. When you blend
them the color fades away and you need to apply more to have somekind of color left.

What is good about these is that thay are Paraben Free

All in all
I will not be buying any of these eyeshadows
even though I have hit the pan on the lightest color.

Makeup Brushes $14 - $16
SigmaTech™ synthetic fibers

Eyeliner - E11
Smudge - E21
Shader - Crease - E47
Blending E36

These brushes are for presicion work. I don't use them in my everyday makeup.
I do try to find use for them but my makeup is usually very simple and I don't use many
brushes at all. The one brush I use most out of these is probably Smudge - E21.

I think these brushes are better suited for a
Makeup Artist or someone who does Makeup Tutorials.

Sigma Beauty 10% Off Code: GLOWGETTER

Two of my favorite Makeup Brushes from Sigma:

F82 - Round Kabuki

F80 - Flat Top Kabuki

Born Pretty Store Image Plate Review and Manicure

Part 2 of the Born Pretty Store Image Plates, with a manicure.

Below are Image Plate BP-01 and BP-02 "swatched" with Konad Black on
paper. And I should just say that stamping on paper and nails is not at all the same
thing. But overall these two plates seem to stamp well. The finer details and the bigger
fields of color all look like they transfered onto the paper. I used a Konad stamper
and a soft silicone stamper. A harder stamper than what I used could have trouble
picking up the finer lines so I would recommend using a stamper of the softer sort.

Manicure -  - Nordic Nights

For the manicure I used China Glaze - Millennium, Metallic Muse and
Little Drummer Boy. I Sponged them on for a gradient effect. And then topped
that off with a thin coat of China Glaze - He's Going in Circles for a little sparkle.
I was imagening it as Snowfall on a Nordic Night glimmering in the starlight.
From BP-01 I used the reindeer image and stamped with Konad Black.

Pros: Images that stamp well
Cons: Some plates have too many images making them too close to eachother.

But I still feel that these two plates are a nice addition to my
Image Plate Collection. Even though BP-01 has limited use to it.

BOrn Pretty Store Accessories - Review

I'm Wearing a Crown!

I have 2 new items to show you from Born Pretty Store. Earrings today and waterdecals with a manicure tomorrow. So stay tuned. I will also post a Giveaway soon - sponsored by Born Pretty Store. So be sure to be a follower by clicking the follower button at the top of the page and check in now and then.

These cute stud earrings have a pretty peach heart with a gold colored crown on top with pearls and glitter stones. The thingy at the back is just a rubber one. But I guess you can borrow some from an other pair. I have used these a few times and nothing has fallen off. To help the pearls to stick and the colors not to fade I used a top coat on the Crown part of the earrings. I do that with rings and earrings that aren't real gold or silver.

Item ID: Item ID: 4031 and the name of the item
as it appears on the Born Pretty Store Website:

Born Pretty Store an other Number - Review

Here comes a review of a Nail Polish from Born Pretty Store.
I already reviewd an other color of this polish a couple of days ago.
That polish had a scent but this one didn't. And I'm not talking about
the smell of polish. This is a cream polish on the thinner side.

I had to do 3 coats and still the result was not the best. Luckily this
polish dries fast. All photos are without top coat and in natural light.

The brush is a great size even though this is a small 8ml bottle. It
was a little wonky with some stray bristles. But I just cut those away.

Here is the polish name as it appears on the website and a link to it.

Rhinestones in an other light - Review

Re-cycling rhinestones

Now why would I want to do that? These do not have a hight prize tag...
This is not the first time I am reviewing Crystal Rhinestones from Born Pretty
Store. And these Rose Crystal Rhinestones has a beautiful color and shine to
them. But this time I thought that I would do something different. A test of quality.

How I went About

I applied rhinestones to a manicure the normal way and when I removed
them I put them in acetone to remove the polish from them. Some Rhinestones
don't go well with acetone. But these I have to say are of great quality.

The acetone did nothing to them more than remove the nail polish. In the
manicure I posted yesterday I used re-cycled Rhinestones. See in the photo
above just how shiny the Re-used Rhinestines are. - - They are like New!

These Cystal Rhinestones however come packaged as shown in the photo
above, in a small plastick bag. I chose to put them in a small jar for easy access.

Here are the names how they appear on the website and links to them:

Born Pretty Store Nail Polish Review

No Top Coat

With Top Coat

Review of Born Pretty Store Nail Polish

At first this seemed to be a plain cream polish. But when I looked closely
I saw it is has a subtle Purple/Blue shimmer to it. About application, very nice
smooth texture easy to apply and dries quickly. On super short nubbins you might
get away with just one coat. I did 2 coats for the photos. An other thing I noticed
is that this polish has a scent, just like the MISSHA HGR01 polish does.

With Top Coat
The subtle shimmer is more visivle when you apply top coat.
Even though this is a small 8ml bottle the brush is of good size. The
bristles are soft so they don't cause any streaks. Application is easy.

All photos taken in natural light.
