Magic Pop-Up Pen First Impressions

Born Pretty Store sent me these MagicPop-Up Pens for review.

First problem was understanding how this product actually works as the

explanation is in a language I can't read or understand. I did some googling

and asked friends and tried a few things. I will post my findings in two

separate posts on my blog. Part two will be tomorrow so stay tuned.

How I went about

I started out by doing a simple card I wanted to decorate. Not knowing how the

products would react or behave I did not use my best paper as this would be my

first test. I did some stamping on the paper and went on to add some popcorn pen.

Looking at the box there was a few things I could make out from it.

For example:1000W, 20cm, 2-3. Guessing the 1000W is meaning

some kind of tool/machine, 20cm beeing the distance and 2-3 beeing

minutes. Googling for some information this seemed like a good option.

I took out my hairdryer (1200W) and went on to heat the paper.

Nothing happened. Well not much anyway. Went in closer on

the paper with the hairdryer and for several minutes. Still not much.

I was a bit dissapointed as I thought this could be really cool.

I did not give up. Went on facebook in search of people who

would be able to read the explanation and tell me what to do. Or

someone who has tried this product. What I found out and how my

experiment continues you can find out tomorrow in a new post.

So LAST Year

So what is so last year?

Swatches and Manicures from last year that

never made it to the blog until now. Some did

not make it to blog for more obvious reasons that

others - but  decided to show my FAIL manicures

too. AI decided to clear out my "Photo Arcive".

I've done swatches and manicures, taken photos

and edited. So why not just show them. Some

you might like, others not. Here it goes...

Remove any existing nail polish and shape as usual. Add a drop of

jojoba oil to each nail and buff gently. Wash hands with soap and water

to rinse remover residue and buffing dust. Apply 1 coat of our fortifying base

coat. Follow with 2 coats of polish allowing 1-3 minutes in between

coats. Finish with our deluxe/top coat for a high gloss shine.

Base Coat - fortifying base coat nourishes nails while providing the

perfect foundation for our polishes. Our base coat significantly extends

Please remember, this is a water-based nail product.

While it dries to the touch in minutes, it needs a few hours to cure fully

prior to prolonged exposure to water. We encourage painting tips and

toes before bed, allowing polish to dry and adhere overnight. 

Left: Blood and Sand (3-4 coats a bit sheer)

Right: Base/Top Coat (Bottle)

On the nails Blood and Sand (1 coat) layered over Seaboard (2-3 coats)

Polish Remover: For easiest removal, soak nails in warm water

for a few minutes. Pre-moisten all nails with remover allowing time for

polish to soften. Then moisten cotton pad and rub across nail to remove.

You can also remove any remaining polish using an orange stick.

After removal, thoroughly rinse nails.

Soy Polish Remover: methyl soyate, dimethyl adipate, dimethyl glutarate

Here comes an other review and swatch of a great polish brand: Purple Professional.

The application is easy and smooth with a good size brush that is somewhat flattened.

You can get away with one coat but I applied two for the photos. A fuschia color polish

that looks more pink in artificial lighting compared to natural lighting. Photo above left:
