Hit pan?

Use it up!

I thought my tube of concealer was empty, because I could not squeeze out anything. Decided to open it. Didn't like the brush at the top anyway, had already cut the bristles when it was new.

Empty?

No, it was not empty. There were plenty in there. Squeezed it out into a container. Been using it for weeks. Still have loads left in the tube that I digg out with a brush. Don't want to waste it.

Purge

I'm on a mission. The accumulation of beauty products has to stop. In order to do that I want to hit pan on the products I have. Makeup and beauty products does have a shelf life and best by date, so eventually it gets old. Time for project Hit Pan and a Purge of old products.

How about you?
Do you want to use up every drop?
Or can't be bothered?

ELF vs Makeup Revolution - Blush Comparison

Comparison

As promised here comes the post of ELF Blush Palette in Fair compared to an other affordable makeup brand - Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice.

When I looked my ELF Blush palette I thought that it reminded me of something and I took out my Makeup Revolution Blush Palette. And yes it is similar. Definitely not dupes but the same kind of shades: Pink, Rose and Coral.

Swatches

"Coral Shade" (LEFT)
Makeup Revolution is more red-toned whereas the ELF is leaning more to the orange side.
"Rose Tone" (MIDDLE)
Here is is clear that the blush from Makeup Revolution is more pigmented than the blush from ELF. Blended out however they are basically the same shade
"Pink Blush" (RIGHT)
It is obvious that the Makeup Revolution blush is stronger in pigmentation. I really tried to build up the intensity of the ELF blush but this is what I got.

The verdict?

All in all the Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette is more pigmented, the blushes are smoother to the touch and it has more shades to choose from. I'm sorry ELF but I have to go with Makeup Revolution on this one, even though the ELF palette has one unique shade to it.

ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder - Fiji Matte - Swatches

In my previous post I showed swatches of ELF Blush Palette in Fair - That I got in my latest ELF Haul - together with Contouring Blush And Bronzing Powder that I will be showing swatches of in this post. And I will also compare the two.

The Contouring Blush And Bronzing Powder in Fiji (Matte) I have been wanting for for a long time. When Distribeauty UK Ltd still shipped ELF it was always out of stock when I placed my orders. And then the company went on stocking other brands. So I wasn't able to get my hands on it until now. So how do I like it? Would I contour with this?

Contouring Blush And Bronzing Powder in Fiji (Matte) palette has better pigmentation than the Blush Palette in Fair and color pay-off is a little better. But it is still powdery. Again finger swatches are ok. Finger swipes on hand are ok. You can see that it is a little crumbly. But that is because I swirled my fingers a few times to really pick up a lot of product. In the comparison photos I swirled on the swatches and I really worked that powder on to my hand - so the result is much smoother. However when working with a brush the results are different. It is not as vibrant, nor do you want it to be on your cheeks.

The neutral shade in the Blush Palette has more of a red tone compared to the more grey taupe tone shade in the Fiji Palette. I don't think I will use the orange shade in the Fair Blush Palette at all. In the Blush Palette the coraly toned blush is more vibrant (and it has glitter - but not much of that shows. And doesn't really transfer to your cheeks.) compared to the more muted coral tone in the Fiji Palette. But very similar.

How do I like it?
I prefer the Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder Fiji Palette. I would not contour with it. Rather use as a Blush and Bronzer. Love matte products.

Up next is going to be a comparison of the Blush Palette in Fair and a Blush Palette from an other affordable makeup brand. Hopefully that will be up on Sunday.

What "other affordable makeup brand" do you think it is?

Recent ELF Haul and Blush Swatches

Ett foto publicerat av Ida (@ida.pie)

Finally elfcosmetic.se opened. After Distribeauty UK Ltd stopped shipping e.l.f products I have not been able to get elf. I've seen these nice products come up in USA and been wanting to try them out. But I guess we have to wait a while longer til we get them all. If we even get them all. Anyways...

So I placed my first elf order and posted a picture on Instagram. (Link to my Instagram in the sidebar). Not so much new and interesting stuff, mostly basics that I need to stock up on. And the only two products that I thought are worth swatching are the blush palettes. Blush Palette in Fair and Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder in Fiji - Matte. I'm sure there are alot of swatches of these products. But as I have posted ELF swatches before on this blog I thought I want to keep doing that.

In this post I will be showing you swatches of Blush Palette in Fair. Next post will be swatches of Contouring and Bronzing Powder and I will also be comparing it with the Fair Palette. What I will also do in a third post is to compare some of the shades in The Blush Palette in Fair with an other affordable makeup brand. But more on that in the upcoming post. So stay tuned.

The Light Pink shade is the sheerest one of the bunch. There's a nice Rose tone. A Coraly Pink (with glitter but not very visible on the swatches) and a neutral but Orange blush. I guess the color selection is good for a 4-blush palette. Nothing spectacular. But these blushes are a tad bit powdery. The color pay-off isn't the greatest. Like a normal ELF Blush I'd say. Swatches on fingers look ok. Finger swipes on hand are ok. But when you start working on these blushes with a brush the results are sheer. However that can be a good thing if you have fair skin. Then this might be the thing for you. 'Cause you can't really over-do with these blushes when you are working with a brush. They aren't the most horrible thing I have worked with. I have other powdery elf blushes that I love the shades of and do use. I just got these and have not worn them yet so the jury is still out on this product...

Elf has an other version of this palette. And the thing is that you can pop out each color and if you have the two palettes you can put together your favorite colors in one palette. Why didn't I think of taking a photo of that...? Maybe I'll post a pic of that on my Instagram account. Be sure to follow me there. (Link in sidebar).

Next post hopefully up on Thursday.

Daytime look using Coastal Scents Products

A picture tutorial using Hot Pot Eyeshadows, 6 Countour
Blush Palette and Makeup Brushes from Coastal Scents.

Peach Puff and Chamois Nude

With a large flat shader brush I applied Peach Puff first and then Chamois
Nude under my brow and using a pencil brush the same colors on the lower lid.

Applying Peach Puff and Chamois Nude under my brow and lower lid.

Victoran Pear and Spiceberry

Using a flat shader brush I applied Victorian Pear on the center
of my eyelid. With a fluffy crease brush I applied Spiceberry in the
crease and on the outer corner of the lower lid with a pencil brush.

Applying Spiceberry in the crease and lover lid.

Vanilla Sky and Black Berry

Using a pencil brush Vanilla Sky was applied to the inner corner to brighten up the
eyes, and with a flat shader brush as a hightlight under the highest point of the brow.

Applying Vanilla Sky as a Higlight under the brow
and Blackberry in the outer corner to intensify the look.

To darken up the outer corner of the eyelids I used Black Berry and
flat shader brush. I curled my lashes and instead of a khol pencil or
any kind of liner I used Black Berry on the lash line for softer look.

Applying Black Berry to the lash line

The reason why I curl my lashes prior to applying any liner, is that I want to get as
close to the lashline as possible with the curler. And I have noticed that the liner gets
smudged if I curl my lashes after applying liner, and then I would re-apply anyways.

6 Contour Blush Palette

I contoured my cheeks and face blending the dark brown from the
6 Contour Blush Palette and the peachy shade next to it. As blush
I used the dusty rose color on the other side of the dark brown.

Contouring and applying blush

What I love about the 6 Contour Blush Palette is that all the shades
are matte. I don't care too much about any shimmery contour products
or blushes with heavy glitter or shimmer. So this palette is perfect for me.
If I want a hint of shimmer I can easily add that ontop of these shades.

Two Makeup Brushes, 6 Contour Blush Palette, Hot Pot Palette (except 4 Hot Pot Eyeshadows and a
Free Sample of Mineral Eye Shadow)
was sent for review and tutorial purpose from Coastal Scents.

MeMeMe Cosmetics - Swatches

MeMeMe Rouge set includes: Blush Me!, Light Me Up High Shine Lipgloss and Nail Polish.

MeMeMe - Rouge Best Seller Collection
Comes presented in a beautiful hexagonal gift box.

Here is the third and final post with photos and swatches as
promised of the products from my Cosmetic Haul Post earlier.

MeMeMe Rouge Gift Box

To be honest I got this set mostly because of the hexagonal box. But can
you blame me? I love boxes and this was too cute to resist. Don't you think?!

MeMeMe Blush Me! - Rouge

Bring out your seductive spirit with this gorgeous set featuring Blush Box
in warm "Rouge", which adds colour to give a healthy glow to the skin.
This is a good color blush for me. The cap has a mirror in it and the
brush sits in a plastic tray ontop of the blush so it don't get ruined.

MeMeMe Light Me Up High Shine Lipgloss - No 9 Intense

"Intense" Red Light Me Up Lipgloss with a Mirror and Light Up
Applicator for on the go application. The gloss is non sticky and
includes lip plumpers to give a natural pout. I don't own a lipgloss
this color and I love it. A funny feature is the lamp that lights up when
you unscrew the cap/applicator. And it has a small mirror on the side.

MeMeMe Nail Polish - 58 Indulgent

The set also comes with a nail polish
"Indulgent"
Rouge Noir long lasting nail gloss with a maxi brush.

MeMeMe Nail Polish, Lipgloss and Rouge
Nail Polish and Lipgloss swatch on tape, Blush on bare
skin with no primer. Photo taken in natural light, no flash.
